The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Deputy Head of Science to lead and inspire a passionate and innovative Science faculty. This role offers the opportunity to shape curriculum design, drive student achievement, and contribute to a school that values creativity, inclusion, and high standards in teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach Science at Key Stages 3 and 4, and support teaching at Key Stage 5 within your specialism
- Collaborate with the Head of Science to design a dynamic and challenging Science curriculum
- Ensure all students make outstanding progress and that teaching is of the highest standard
- Track and assess student progress, with a focus on supporting disadvantaged learners
- Promote Science across the school through enrichment activities, trips, and guest speakers
- Integrate ICT into teaching and learning to enhance student engagement
- Support project-based learning that connects Science to the real world and future careers
- Deploy support staff effectively and involve them in planning and classroom management
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience teaching Science at Key Stages 3 and 4
- Ability to teach Science at A Level, if applicable
- Strong leadership experience and a track record of driving student achievement
- Commitment to inclusive teaching and student success
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
Preferred
- Experience in curriculum development and innovation
- Experience with project-based learning and real-world applications
- Experience in leading and mentoring colleagues
- Familiarity with ICT integration in Science teaching
- Experience in school improvement and staff development
