The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Deputy Head of Science to lead and inspire a passionate and innovative Science faculty. This role offers the opportunity to shape curriculum design, drive student achievement, and contribute to a school that values creativity, inclusion, and high standards in teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Science at Key Stages 3 and 4, and support teaching at Key Stage 5 within your specialism
  • Collaborate with the Head of Science to design a dynamic and challenging Science curriculum
  • Ensure all students make outstanding progress and that teaching is of the highest standard
  • Track and assess student progress, with a focus on supporting disadvantaged learners
  • Promote Science across the school through enrichment activities, trips, and guest speakers
  • Integrate ICT into teaching and learning to enhance student engagement
  • Support project-based learning that connects Science to the real world and future careers
  • Deploy support staff effectively and involve them in planning and classroom management

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience teaching Science at Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Ability to teach Science at A Level, if applicable
  • Strong leadership experience and a track record of driving student achievement
  • Commitment to inclusive teaching and student success
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and innovation
  • Experience with project-based learning and real-world applications
  • Experience in leading and mentoring colleagues
  • Familiarity with ICT integration in Science teaching
  • Experience in school improvement and staff development
