The Opportunity:

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (1:1), you will provide tailored support to a student with specific needs, helping them thrive academically and socially. This is a key role in ensuring the student feels confident, included, and supported throughout their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the pupil’s learning by implementing strategies outlined in their EHCP and support plan.
  • Deliver interventions and classroom support as directed by the SENDCo and Class Teacher.
  • Create a calm, structured, and encouraging learning environment that promotes positive behaviour.
  • Adapt resources and provide differentiated learning materials to help the pupil access the curriculum.
  • Assist the pupil during class, transitions, assemblies, and break times across the school day.
  • Support the pupil’s social interactions, emotional regulation, and engagement with peers.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with the pupil, their family, and the school team.
  • Collaborate with teachers and the Learning Support Team to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Celebrate progress and reinforce the pupil’s self-esteem and independence.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) qualification.
  • Experience supporting students with additional needs.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships with pupils, parents, and staff.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Confidence in using ICT for learning support and record-keeping.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a school or educational setting.
  • A commitment to professional development and reflective practice.
  • Experience with EHCP planning and implementation.
