The Opportunity:

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students with special educational needs. You will work closely with teachers and the SENCo to help students achieve their full potential and develop essential life skills. This is an opportunity to make a real impact in a dynamic and supportive team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support class teachers and the SENCo to improve student learning and attainment.
  • Promote student independence, self-esteem, and social inclusion.
  • Provide individual or group support to help students access the curriculum and experience achievement.
  • Identify and address the needs of students requiring additional help to overcome learning barriers.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine the support needs of students.
  • Contribute to the planning and preparation of learning activities.
  • Deliver planned curriculum activities under the direction of the SENCo.
  • Develop and implement student interventions, including pupil tracking and IEPs.
  • Provide mentoring for students in one-to-one and group settings.
  • Undertake Access Arrangement Testing and relevant administration.
  • Support transition programmes for students at all key stages.
  • Lead activities to support students holistically, including social skills development.
  • Supervise students on visits, trips, and out-of-school activities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with students with special educational needs.
  • Ability to support students in accessing the curriculum.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and student well-being.
  • Willingness to work under the guidance of the SENCo.

Preferred

  • Experience in conducting assessments and developing IEPs.
  • Knowledge of Access Arrangement Testing procedures.
  • Experience in leading social skills and self-esteem programmes.
  • Familiarity with teaching and learning technologies.
  • Experience in supporting students through transitions.
