The Opportunity:

A school is seeking an experienced History and Politics Teacher to join a dynamic and collaborative team. This role offers the chance to shape young minds, deliver high-quality teaching across KS3 to KS5, and contribute to a vibrant learning environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in inspiring students and supporting the school’s vision for academic and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality teaching of History and Politics at KS3 and KS5, ensuring a clear ethos and positive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Humanities to develop and implement schemes of work aligned with the school’s policies.
  • Support the department by participating in a range of tasks, including marking, planning, and curriculum development.
  • Contribute to the History and Politics enrichment programme, including historical visits, Model United Nations, and debating activities.
  • Assist with the organisation and delivery of extracurricular events and trips related to the subject.
  • Maintain high standards of teaching and learning, ensuring student progress and engagement.
  • Work effectively within a team, contributing to a collaborative and supportive department culture.
  • Carry out other duties as reasonably assigned by the Head of School.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A good honours degree in History, Politics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience teaching History and Politics at GCSE and A Level.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve student attainment, progress, and behaviour.
  • Excellent communication skills, including strong oral and written abilities.
  • Strong ICT proficiency and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and maintain high professional standards.

Preferred

  • Experience in developing and delivering enrichment programmes.
  • Familiarity with innovative teaching methods and technologies.
  • Experience with pastoral care and student support.
  • Leadership experience within a school or educational setting.
