The Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced School Counsellor to support vulnerable students and promote positive mental health. This role offers the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people within a supportive and professional environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group counselling to students, supporting their emotional and social development.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement support plans for students.
  • Deliver workshops and sessions on wellbeing, emotional resilience, and coping strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports in line with safeguarding and data protection standards.
  • Participate in staff meetings and contribute to the development of the school’s wellbeing programme.
  • Offer guidance and support to staff on student behaviour and emotional needs.
  • Stay up to date with developments in counselling and child psychology to ensure best practice.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Professional Diploma in Counselling, accredited by BACP or UKCP.
  • Proven experience working with young people and supporting vulnerable students.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of child development and mental health.
  • Experience with wellbeing and emotional resilience programmes.
