The Opportunity:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced History Teacher and 2nd in Charge of History to join our successful department. This role offers the chance to lead, teach, and shape the future of young minds. The ideal candidate will be a reflective and collaborative professional, committed to delivering high-quality education to students from Year 7 to Year 13.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach History to students across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, ensuring engaging and challenging lessons.
- Support the Head of History in managing the department, including curriculum planning and staff development.
- Deliver high-quality lessons that promote critical thinking and a deep understanding of history.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and support.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement innovative teaching strategies.
- Participate in the wider school community, including extracurricular activities and pastoral care.
- Stay up to date with developments in the subject and incorporate new ideas into teaching.
- Mentor and support junior staff within the department.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in History education.
- Strong subject knowledge and the ability to deliver engaging lessons.
- Experience in a leadership or senior role within a school department.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred
- Experience in a 2nd in Charge role or similar leadership position.
- Background in teaching students across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
- Experience with curriculum development and assessment strategies.
- Familiarity with Ofsted standards and school improvement practices.
