Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons that promote critical thinking and a deep understanding of history.
  • Prepare and assess students effectively, ensuring they achieve their full potential at GCSE and A Level.
  • Contribute to the development of the History curriculum and support the school’s commitment to academic excellence.
  • Lead and participate in extra-curricular activities, including history societies, trips, and seminars.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to enhance cross-subject learning and student engagement.
  • Provide pastoral support and contribute to the overall academic and personal development of students.
  • Stay up to date with current events and historical research to ensure a relevant and stimulating teaching practice.
  • Support students in university applications and career guidance through UCAS groups and seminars.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a relevant degree and QTS or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in teaching History at both GCSE and A Level.
  • Strong track record of achieving high academic results.
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
  • Commitment to the school’s values of academic excellence, innovation, and student development.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading extra-curricular activities related to History.
  • Familiarity with the Joe Scott award and other national history competitions.
  • Experience with international trips or fieldwork in history.
  • Knowledge of using technology to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Experience in supporting students with university applications and career planning.
