Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with teaching and peripatetic staff to enhance student performance and engagement.
  • Foster strong relationships with students, parents, and stakeholders to promote the value of music education.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of major musical events and performances.
  • Support the professional development of departmental staff and encourage collaborative teaching practices.
  • Ensure the department meets high academic and performance standards, reflecting the school’s commitment to all-round excellence.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a music department within an educational setting.
  • Strong musical background and the ability to inspire and mentor students and staff.
  • Experience in managing and developing extra-curricular music programs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school with a strong tradition of musical excellence.
  • A background in both teaching and performing.
  • Experience with curriculum development and assessment in music education.
  • Familiarity with the use of technology in music instruction.
