The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and inspire the Biology department, ensuring high-quality teaching and effective assessment.
  • Develop and implement a dynamic curriculum that fosters a love of Biology among students.
  • Manage departmental resources, budget, and enrichment opportunities.
  • Support student transitions and interdisciplinary links across the school.
  • Represent the department at school events and contribute to marketing and admissions efforts.
  • Promote continuous professional development for staff.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance student engagement and academic outcomes.
  • Ensure strong uptake and retention of Biology across all year groups.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Biology at all levels of education.
  • Experience in curriculum development and teaching delivery.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in managing a departmental team.
  • Background in a Catholic or faith-based educational setting.
  • Experience in admissions or marketing within a school context.
  • Familiarity with independent school systems and standards.
