Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and inspire the Biology department, ensuring high-quality teaching and effective assessment.
- Develop and implement a dynamic curriculum that fosters a love of Biology among students.
- Manage departmental resources, budget, and enrichment opportunities.
- Support student transitions and interdisciplinary links across the school.
- Represent the department at school events and contribute to marketing and admissions efforts.
- Promote continuous professional development for staff.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance student engagement and academic outcomes.
- Ensure strong uptake and retention of Biology across all year groups.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven leadership experience in a school or educational setting.
- Strong subject knowledge in Biology at all levels of education.
- Experience in curriculum development and teaching delivery.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Preferred
- Experience in managing a departmental team.
- Background in a Catholic or faith-based educational setting.
- Experience in admissions or marketing within a school context.
- Familiarity with independent school systems and standards.
