The Opportunity:
The HLTA SEND Transition Group will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities. This position focuses on enhancing collaboration between SEND, Pastoral, and Curriculum teams to ensure students receive the best possible support and guidance during their transition through school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain effective communication and collaboration between SEND, Pastoral, and Curriculum teams.
- Liaise regularly with the SENCO, Transition Group Teaching Staff, and Pastoral Head of Year to plan and support individual student needs.
- Work closely with Heads of Curriculum/Subject departments to identify and address the support needs of Transition Group students.
- Collaborate with the Student Support Hub Manager to ensure students with complex needs receive bespoke and effective support.
- Deliver targeted interventions to develop students’ independence skills alongside their timetabled support.
- Support the delivery of in-class timetabled support and provide complementary interventions as required.
- Ensure that all support strategies are aligned with the school’s vision and the needs of students.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Relevant experience in a SEND or pastoral support role.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multiple teams.
- Commitment to supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities.
- Flexibility to work term time plus additional days.
Preferred
- Experience in a transition support role or similar setting.
- Knowledge of SEND frameworks and best practices.
- Experience in delivering targeted interventions to support student independence.
- Understanding of the school’s vision and ethos.
