The Opportunity:

As a SEND Year Team Leader - HLTA, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities. You will lead and coordinate a team of Learning Support Assistants, ensuring effective in-class support and collaboration across pastoral and academic departments. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student outcomes and contribute to a successful, forward-thinking school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate the work of Learning Support Assistants within a specific Year group.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Pastoral Head of Year to adapt support strategies based on student needs.
  • Liaise with Heads of Curriculum and Subject departments to ensure effective SEND support across the school.
  • Deliver targeted interventions to help students develop independence skills.
  • Ensure consistent and effective timetabling of in-class support for students with SEND.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of students receiving support.
  • Support the development of inclusive learning environments.
  • Provide guidance and training to Learning Support Assistants as required.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant experience in supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Experience in a leadership or team management role.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teaching and support staff.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and student well-being.
  • HLTA qualification or equivalent.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of SEND policies and procedures.
  • Experience with curriculum planning and delivery.
  • Experience in providing targeted interventions for students with additional needs.
  • Familiarity with the use of educational software and tools.
