The Opportunity:

As an HR Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the school’s people function, ensuring a responsive and professional experience for all colleagues. This is a vital role in maintaining smooth HR operations, managing compliance, and delivering high-quality service across the employee lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain accurate employee records and data across HR systems.
  • Support the recruitment process, including pre-employment checks and maintaining the Single Central Register.
  • Provide efficient and professional HR support for onboarding, offboarding, and day-to-day HR operations.
  • Assist with payroll changes, contractual updates, and absence management.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding and HR policies, identifying and escalating risks promptly.
  • Support continuous improvement of HR systems and processes with a practical, solutions-focused approach.
  • Build strong working relationships with colleagues at all levels across the school network.
  • Deliver a high-quality service to managers and colleagues, ensuring all HR processes are handled with care and professionalism.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Previous experience in an HR administrative or HR Officer role.
  • Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Confidence in managing competing priorities and maintaining accurate records.
  • Experience with HR or management information systems.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Experience in recruitment administration and pre-employment checks.

Preferred

  • Experience of maintaining a Single Central Register or working within an education setting.
  • Experience in an independent or academy school environment.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with employee onboarding and offboarding processes.
