The Opportunity:
As a Junior School SENDCo, you will play a vital role in ensuring that all pupils with additional learning needs receive the support they require to thrive. You will lead the strategic development of SEND provision, work closely with staff, parents, and external agencies, and contribute to a culture of inclusion and belonging. This role is ideal for someone passionate about making a real difference in the lives of students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and develop SEND provision across the Junior School, ensuring a consistent and inclusive approach to teaching and learning.
- Oversee screening and assessment processes to support the identification and monitoring of pupils with additional learning needs.
- Provide training and support to teachers and support staff to enhance their ability to deliver inclusive teaching practices.
- Work collaboratively with parents and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to supporting pupils with SEND.
- Deliver some class teaching, depending on areas of specialism, and contribute to the academic and personal development of students.
- Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, playing a key role in the school’s safeguarding processes.
- Promote a culture of inclusion, pride, and belonging across the school community.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Relevant degree and teaching qualification.
- National SENCO Award or SENDCo NPQ.
- Experience working with EAL pupils and teaching across a range of ages and abilities.
- Strong knowledge of best practice in SEND teaching and learning.
- Experience in delivering training and support to staff in SEND-related areas.
Preferred
- Experience in leading or coordinating SEND provision in a school setting.
- Experience with safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience with adaptive teaching strategies and inclusive classroom practices.
