The Opportunity:
As the Lead Nurse, you will play a vital role in supporting the physical, emotional, and psychological wellbeing of students aged 4–18. This is a leadership position within the Medical Centre, requiring clinical expertise, compassionate care, and the ability to contribute to the school’s broader pastoral strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Medical Centre, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for students.
- Administer medical and first aid care to students in need, following best practices and school policies.
- Provide ongoing wellbeing support, including early intervention for students requiring emotional or psychological guidance.
- Collaborate with pastoral leaders, safeguarding staff, and First Aid colleagues to ensure a cohesive approach to student care.
- Monitor and document the health needs of students, maintaining accurate and confidential records.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the school’s pastoral strategy and policies.
- Support staff and students through training, guidance, and professional development initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding and health and safety regulations.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- RSCN/RN Child Diploma or Degree, RN and RMN qualification
- At least 5 years of post-qualification experience
- Current NMC registration
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Preferred
- ILS or PILS certification
- Safeguarding Level 3 qualification
- Full driving licence
- Previous school nursing experience
- Experience in primary healthcare
- Mental Health Nursing experience, particularly with adolescents
- Accident and Emergency experience
