The Opportunity:

As the Lead Nurse, you will play a vital role in supporting the physical, emotional, and psychological wellbeing of students aged 4–18. This is a leadership position within the Medical Centre, requiring clinical expertise, compassionate care, and the ability to contribute to the school’s broader pastoral strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Medical Centre, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for students.
  • Administer medical and first aid care to students in need, following best practices and school policies.
  • Provide ongoing wellbeing support, including early intervention for students requiring emotional or psychological guidance.
  • Collaborate with pastoral leaders, safeguarding staff, and First Aid colleagues to ensure a cohesive approach to student care.
  • Monitor and document the health needs of students, maintaining accurate and confidential records.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the school’s pastoral strategy and policies.
  • Support staff and students through training, guidance, and professional development initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding and health and safety regulations.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • RSCN/RN Child Diploma or Degree, RN and RMN qualification
  • At least 5 years of post-qualification experience
  • Current NMC registration
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Preferred

  • ILS or PILS certification
  • Safeguarding Level 3 qualification
  • Full driving licence
  • Previous school nursing experience
  • Experience in primary healthcare
  • Mental Health Nursing experience, particularly with adolescents
  • Accident and Emergency experience
