Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the development of the English curriculum, ensuring it is innovative and aligned with the school’s vision.
  • Work closely with the head of department to enhance teaching and learning across the department.
  • Monitor and evaluate departmental performance, providing feedback and support to staff.
  • Promote a culture of continuous professional development and collaboration among teachers.
  • Coordinate and deliver training sessions and professional development opportunities for department members.
  • Support the implementation of school-wide initiatives and strategies to improve student achievement.
  • Ensure that the department maintains a high standard of teaching, learning, and student engagement.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student success and well-being.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in English education at secondary level.
  • Proven leadership experience within a school department.
  • Strong knowledge of the English curriculum and current teaching practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading curriculum development or innovation projects.
  • Familiarity with using technology to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Experience in supporting staff through professional development.
  • A passion for promoting reading and a love of literature among students.
