The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and driven Lead Teaching Assistant to support students with special educational needs and disabilities, and those with social, emotional, and mental health challenges. This role is integral to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with special educational needs and disabilities across key stages 3 and 4.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to establish a positive and engaging learning environment.
  • Assist with the movement and handling of students with disabilities around the academy site.
  • Implement effective strategies to support students with challenging behaviours.
  • Engage, inspire, and build strong relationships with students, acting as a role model.
  • Adapt to changing circumstances and embrace new ideas and approaches.
  • Provide consistent support to students while responding to their individual needs.
  • Contribute to the delivery of high-quality learning experiences in and out of the classroom.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Commitment to the school's vision and values.
  • Experience working with students exhibiting challenging behaviours.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
  • A proactive and positive attitude with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Understanding of the school’s context and its approach to inclusion and support.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching or supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Experience with behaviour management strategies.
  • Knowledge of inclusive education practices.
  • Experience working in a multi-academy trust or similar setting.
  • Familiarity with curriculum development and delivery.
