The Opportunity:

As a Learning & Literacy Assistant - 6th Form, you will support students aged 15–18 in developing advanced academic and digital skills. This role is ideal for someone passionate about literacy, research, and preparing students for university-level study.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead a dedicated research hub to foster academic inquiry and critical thinking.
  • Provide one-on-one and small-group support to students in structuring extended essays, dissertations, and synthesizing complex texts.
  • Teach advanced reading strategies to prepare students for university-level academic literature.
  • Collaborate with department heads to integrate research and study skills into senior curriculum planning.
  • Design and implement a Pre-University Learning Skills Programme focused on time management, organisation, and critical thinking.
  • Consult with students to identify learning needs and adapt programmes accordingly.
  • Support students in mastering exam techniques for extended response questions and handling primary source material.
  • Champion the ethical use of AI tools in learning, focusing on academic integrity and effective application.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A relevant degree in English, Humanities, Information Science, or Education.
  • Experience in a school or university support setting, with a focus on literacy, research, or library management.

Preferred

  • Strong knowledge of AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity.
  • Experience in tutoring, coaching, or academic support.
  • Familiarity with digital research tools and citation management software (e.g., Turnitin, JSTOR).
