The Opportunity:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Secondary Inclusion Specialist Teacher to join a dynamic and innovative school community. This role is central to supporting students with special educational needs, ensuring they receive the highest quality education and care. The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting inclusion, innovation, and academic success across the school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspire and support teachers in delivering inclusive and effective teaching practices.
- Develop and lead professional development initiatives focused on special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
- Monitor and evaluate the quality of curriculum adaptations to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
- Promote student wellbeing through targeted support processes for students, parents, and staff.
- Manage and implement the admissions process to ensure the needs of all students are met.
- Support transitional activities for students with SEND, both into and out of the Secondary Stage.
- Induct, train, and monitor the effectiveness of Individual Learning Support Assistants (ILSAs).
- Conduct observations and assessments, referring to specialists when formal identification is required.
- Lead Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings for supported students.
- Support the implementation of the School Improvement Plan (SIP) and contribute to its success.
- Build strong, reflective relationships with parents and maintain open communication.
- Administer exam access arrangements and ensure compliance with relevant policies.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A high-quality degree, preferably in Special Educational Needs.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- At least three years of teaching experience in a secondary school.
- Experience working with students with special needs and disabilities.
- Knowledge and experience of alternative pathways courses such as ASDAN.
- A proven ability to apply inclusive teaching approaches in practice.
- A commitment to student wellbeing and a willingness to contribute to school life.
Preferred
- Additional training or experience in special educational needs and disabilities.
- Experience in implementing interventions to accelerate student achievement.
- Experience in leading or facilitating whole-school events, activities, or projects.
- Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in international, multicultural school environments.
