Learning Support Assistant (Autism / SEMH) opportunity at a specialist school.

The Opportunity:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will provide essential support to students with autism and SEMH needs, helping them to thrive academically and emotionally. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a supportive and inclusive educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils in their assigned tutor group during lessons and transitions between classes.
  • Work closely with teachers and the therapy team to deliver individualised support.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of personalised learning plans.
  • Promote the social, emotional, and behavioural wellbeing of students.
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure a consistent and supportive approach to student care.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities.
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Support students in developing independence and life skills.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with young people with autism or complex needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing situations.
  • Commitment to student wellbeing and inclusive education.
  • Willingness to undergo safeguarding checks and child protection screening.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of EHCP processes.
  • Experience in a specialist SEN setting.
  • Previous experience in a school or educational environment.
  • Interest in supporting students aged 7 through to GCSE level.
  • Familiarity with therapeutic approaches and strategies.
