Summary:

Learning Support Assistant job opportunity with a focus on supporting pupils with special educational needs.

The Opportunity:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with complex social, emotional, and learning challenges. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young people’s lives by providing tailored support that helps them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with social, emotional, and learning challenges through 1:1 assistance
  • Work closely with external professionals such as Speech and Language Therapists and Educational Psychologists
  • Promote the welfare, safety, and wellbeing of all pupils
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of individual support plans
  • Assist with the day-to-day organisation and administration within the school
  • Support families and carers as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as required to support the school’s mission
  • Help pupils build confidence and achieve academic and personal goals

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Level 3 qualification
  • Grade C (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • Previous experience in a SEND or specialist setting
  • Valid driving licence
  • Calm, consistent, and nurturing approach
  • Strong communication and teamworking skills

Preferred

  • Experience working with pupils with SEMH needs or autism
  • Experience in a therapeutic or inclusive educational environment
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies
  • Experience in developing and implementing individual support plans
