Learning Support Assistant needed to support students with special needs in a dynamic school environment.

The Opportunity:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), helping them achieve their full potential. You will work closely with students, teachers, and parents to provide tailored support, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning experience for all.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with special needs, including those with learning difficulties, autism, ADHD, and visual impairment.
- Prepare resources and plan interventions to help students access the National Curriculum.
- Build students’ self-esteem through emotion coaching and mental health awareness.
- Encourage student independence using the graduated approach to support.
- Use the school’s reward system to motivate students and build positive relationships.
- Work with teaching staff to identify and address student needs, reporting to the SENCO as necessary.
- Promote the inclusion of all students, particularly those with SEND.
- Support teachers in delivering engaging and challenging learning experiences.
- Participate in performance reviews and identify personal development opportunities.
- Record and report student progress to the SENCO when appropriate.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Excellent working knowledge of ICT and specialist equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both adults and children.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to data protection policies.
Preferred
- Previous experience in a school setting, though training will be provided.
- GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
- Higher education in education or a related field.
