The Opportunity:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will provide essential classroom support to enable a high-quality education for pupils with learning difficulties. This role offers flexibility and the chance to make a meaningful impact in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support teaching staff in the classroom to deliver a high-quality education to pupils with learning difficulties
  • Assist in the implementation of individualized learning plans and educational programs
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and parents to meet the needs of each pupil
  • Adapt to different learning styles and provide one-to-one or small group support as required
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and growth
  • Assist with classroom management, including preparing resources and organizing activities
  • Support pupils with personal care needs where required
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance professional development

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A caring and positive attitude with a strong commitment to supporting pupils with learning difficulties
  • The ability to adapt to working with a range of pupils and learning needs
  • Experience working in an educational setting, ideally with students with special educational needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A flexible approach to working hours and willingness to work on a supply basis

Preferred

  • Experience working in a special school or with students who have autism or other complex needs
  • Knowledge of SEND pedagogy and best practices in inclusive education
  • Experience in teaching or supporting students with learning difficulties
  • Familiarity with educational software and resources used in special needs education
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and staff training
