Summary:

Learning Support Assistant needed to support students with SEND needs.

The Opportunity:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with complex learning and communication needs. You will work closely with students to help them achieve their individual targets and provide essential support to teachers in the classroom. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with individual learning needs as outlined in their Individual Education Plans.
  • Provide assistance with physical, emotional, and behavioural support as required.
  • Escort students on and off school premises under the supervision of teachers.
  • Help students access the curriculum and achieve learning targets.
  • Deliver one-to-one support for literacy, numeracy, and speech and language development.
  • Encourage positive behaviour in line with school policies and provide appropriate feedback.
  • Identify and manage risks to health, safety, and security in the working environment.
  • Assist teachers in preparing and differentiating learning materials and resources.
  • Support the maintenance of student records and provide regular updates to teachers and the SENDCo.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with students with complex SEND needs, particularly in cognition, learning, and speech and language.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work flexibly and independently within a team.
  • Commitment to supporting students’ academic and personal development.

Preferred

  • Experience in delivering one-to-one learning support programmes.
  • Knowledge of SEND policies and practices.
  • Experience in providing Intimate Care support.
  • Familiarity with educational software and tools used in special needs support.
