The Opportunity:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will provide essential support to students with special educational needs, helping them reach their full potential. You will work closely with students, teachers, and support staff to ensure that all learners can access the curriculum and thrive in a positive, inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide targeted support to students with special educational needs, implementing strategies from Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Assist students in and out of lessons, ensuring they can engage effectively with the curriculum.
  • Deliver one-to-one and small group support sessions as part of personalised learning programmes.
  • Collaborate with class teachers to develop and implement learning resources and strategies.
  • Monitor and track the progress of students to ensure the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Contribute to the review and development of EHCPs to ensure ongoing support is in place.
  • Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and other professional development opportunities.
  • Promote the welfare and safeguarding of students at all times.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal abilities.
  • A positive, ‘can do’ attitude and a commitment to helping students reach their potential.
  • Knowledge of curriculum content and strategies to support behaviour modification.
  • Flexibility, resourcefulness, and a passion for supporting children with special educational needs.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Preferred

  • Experience working with students with special educational needs.
  • Previous experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Familiarity with EHCPs and inclusive education practices.
