Summary:

Learning Support Assistant KS1/KS2 | Support pupils with SEMH and SEND in a nurturing environment.

A school dedicated to providing a structured and therapeutic learning environment for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, offering a high standard of care and education.

The Opportunity:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will support pupils with SEMH and SEND needs in a small, nurturing school. You will work closely with teachers to deliver engaging and differentiated lessons, helping students reach their full potential in a calm and structured setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils academically and emotionally in a highly supportive environment
  • Assist in delivering differentiated lessons tailored to individual needs
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and therapists to ensure a consistent and nurturing approach
  • Use de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviour effectively
  • Promote a safe and inclusive learning environment for all pupils
  • Assist with administrative tasks and record-keeping as required
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance practice
  • Support pupils in developing social, emotional, and academic skills

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH and/or SEND
  • Ability to work confidently with challenging behaviour using de-escalation techniques
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Experience in a school, PRU, or alternative provision setting

Preferred

  • Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching & Learning (or similar)
