Summary:

Learning Support Assistant KS3/4 – Support pupils with SEMH and SEND in a nurturing environment.

The Opportunity:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will provide essential academic and emotional support to students in Key Stages 3 and 4. You will work closely with teachers and therapists in a small, supportive setting, making a real difference in the lives of young people with SEMH and SEND needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with SEMH and SEND needs during classroom-based learning
  • Assist in delivering differentiated and engaging lessons
  • Provide emotional and therapeutic support to students
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and therapists
  • Use de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviour
  • Promote a calm, structured, and nurturing environment
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of students at all times
  • Contribute to the development of individual learning plans

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH and/or SEND
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour using de-escalation techniques
  • Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing
  • Experience in a school, PRU, or alternative provision setting

Preferred

  • Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching & Learning
