The Opportunity:

As a Learning Support Assistant (SEND), you will play a vital role in helping pupils with special educational needs and disabilities achieve their full potential. You will work in a supportive and dynamic environment, providing individualised support to students in the Alternative Resource Provision/ASC Base.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support individual pupils and small groups within the Alternative Resource Provision/ASC Base.
  • Assist with the delivery of structured learning activities tailored to the needs of students with speech, language, and communication difficulties, including those with Autism.
  • Work closely with class teachers to implement individual education plans and support pupils with EHCPs.
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional well-being, and social development in line with the school’s values.
  • Contribute to a calm, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment for all students.
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate regularly with teaching staff and parents.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to enhance support strategies and practice.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistency and high standards in teaching and support.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Minimum of GCSE Level 4 (grade C) or above in English and Maths.
  • NVQ Level 2 in teaching assistance or equivalent experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to work with children of all abilities.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and supporting students with special educational needs.

Preferred

  • Experience working with children with Autism or speech, language, and communication needs.
  • Previous experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies and practices.
  • Experience in managing small groups or individual learning sessions.
