The Opportunity:

A school is seeking a motivated university student to join the PE Department as a Placement Year Teaching Assistant. This role offers the chance to support PE lessons, assist with offsite activities, and contribute to a vibrant, inclusive community focused on student development and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the setup and coordination of PE lessons, including warm-up sessions.
  • Support PE staff in delivering safe and effective lessons, particularly during offsite activities such as swimming.
  • Actively engage in lessons by listening to teaching points and assisting with pupil correction and guidance.
  • Foster independence and good technical skills in pupils while maintaining expected behavior standards.
  • Ensure proper closure of lessons, including tidying up and storing equipment.
  • Maintain and check PE stores regularly to ensure they are tidy and ready for use.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as photocopying, creating team sheets, and managing display boards.
  • Support the maintenance of sporting equipment and first aid kits, and report any issues to the Head of PE.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Currently enrolled as a university student.
  • Willingness to support teaching and learning in various curriculum areas.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of pupils.
