The Opportunity:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping learners with additional needs access education and achieve their full potential. This is a term-time only position that offers the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students through tailored support and guidance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide learning support to individuals and groups with identified learning difficulties and/or disabilities, both in and out of class.
  • Support learners with additional needs in literacy and numeracy through targeted interventions.
  • Collaborate with curriculum staff and the Student Support team to plan, differentiate, and set targets for learners.
  • Record, review, and adapt support strategies using student Individual Learning Plans and other systems.
  • Assist with transition processes and enrichment activities to support student integration and development.
  • Support the implementation of Healthcare Plans, PEEPs, and exam concessions.
  • Assist learners with personal care and medical needs, including medication administration where required.
  • Create and adapt accessible resources and materials to enhance learning opportunities.
  • Support learners in using specialist equipment and assistive technology to promote independence.
  • Engage with external agencies to gather information that supports learning outcomes.
  • Participate in continuous professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with learners with additional needs or disabilities.
  • Ability to provide both in-class and out-of-class support.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to promoting independence and inclusion.
  • Understanding of support strategies and differentiated learning.

Preferred

  • Experience with literacy and numeracy support.
  • Familiarity with assistive technology and specialist equipment.
  • Experience in developing and implementing individual learning plans.
  • Knowledge of healthcare and personal care support for learners.
  • Experience working in a further education or vocational setting.
