The Opportunity:

A school is seeking a passionate Politics and Philosophy Tutor to join its successful Humanities team. This role involves teaching AS and A-Level Politics and A-Level Philosophy, delivering engaging lessons, and contributing to a curriculum that fosters critical thinking and academic success. The position offers the potential for a Course Leader role in Philosophy, providing opportunities for leadership and growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver student-centred lessons in Politics and Philosophy.
  • Provide timely and meaningful feedback to support student achievement.
  • Contribute to the development of a curriculum that promotes critical thinking and lifelong learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance teaching and learning across the Humanities department.
  • Support students in preparing for exams and developing analytical skills.
  • Engage with students to inspire curiosity and a love for learning.
  • Participate in professional development and evidence-based research initiatives.
  • Work closely with the Course Leader to ensure the highest standards of teaching and learning.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Undergraduate degree in Politics, Philosophy, or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience in teaching Politics and/or Philosophy at A-Level or equivalent.
  • Commitment to academic excellence and student development.
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a course or department.
  • Familiarity with Edexcel and AQA specifications.
  • Demonstrated intellectual engagement with Politics and Philosophy.
  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language.
