The Opportunity:

As a Lecturer in Biology and Psychology (Access to HE), you will deliver high-quality, engaging teaching across a range of full-time and part-time programmes. You will play a key role in shaping the learning experience and supporting students to achieve their academic and personal goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and interactive teaching sessions in Biology and Psychology across a range of full-time and part-time Access to HE programmes.
  • Plan, prepare, and assess learning activities that promote essential skills such as literacy, numeracy, and digital capability.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and support the delivery of basic and key skills.
  • Maximize learner attendance, retention, and punctuality within assigned groups to ensure a positive learning experience.
  • Utilize technology and e-learning platforms to enhance teaching and support student learning.
  • Provide individualized support and guidance to students to help them achieve their academic and career goals.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement innovative teaching strategies and materials.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to support continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A relevant teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Biology and Psychology.
  • Experience in delivering Access to HE courses or similar higher education qualifications.
  • Intermediate IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging, interactive lessons.
  • Commitment to promoting essential skills such as literacy, numeracy, and digital capability.

Preferred

  • Familiarity with learner management systems and e-learning platforms.
  • Experience in curriculum development and design.
  • Knowledge of current educational initiatives and best practices in teaching and learning.
  • Experience in supporting students with diverse learning needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
