The Opportunity:

As a Maintenance Operative, you will play a key role in ensuring the school’s facilities are maintained to the highest standards. This position supports the smooth operation of the school and its associated sites, contributing to a safe and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and repair school buildings, equipment, and infrastructure to ensure a safe and functional environment.
  • Carry out routine inspections and maintenance tasks across the school site and Ripley Court School.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies, ensuring minimal disruption.
  • Collaborate with the Estates and Facilities team to implement maintenance schedules and improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities and report progress to senior staff.
  • Support events and activities by ensuring all facilities are prepared and maintained.
  • Assist with general cleaning and tidying of school areas as required.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in building maintenance or a related trade.
  • Ability to carry out manual and technical maintenance tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Valid driving license and own transportation.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in an educational setting or similar environment.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Experience with electrical, plumbing, or carpentry tasks.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends when required.
