The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dedicated Matron to join a school that values the well-being and development of its students. This role involves overseeing domestic and catering teams and providing essential pastoral care in a residential setting. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining the school's high standards of care and support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the domestic and catering teams to ensure a high standard of service.
  • Provide pastoral care and support to students in a residential setting.
  • Work closely with the Housemaster to ensure the smooth running of the boarding house.
  • Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all students and staff.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure the needs of students are met.
  • Support the implementation of school policies and procedures related to student welfare.
  • Monitor and report on the health and well-being of students.
  • Assist with the organisation of events and activities within the house.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Previous experience in a caring or nursing profession, particularly with children.
  • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
  • Experience in a residential or pastoral care setting.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Familiarity with child welfare and safeguarding procedures.
  • Leadership experience or the ability to take on leadership responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a residential environment.
