The Opportunity:
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Head of Year / Science Teacher to lead and inspire students while contributing to the school’s vision of continuous improvement and academic excellence. This role combines pastoral leadership with Science teaching, offering a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student development and learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop effective pastoral care strategies for a year group, supporting student wellbeing, behaviour, and attendance.
- Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team and Form Tutors to promote a positive school ethos and student growth.
- Deliver high-quality Science lessons at Key Stages 3 and 4, with a preference for Biology specialism.
- Inspire and motivate students of all abilities to develop a genuine interest in Science and achieve academic success.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of teaching and learning through innovative practices and technologies.
- Ensure a safe and inclusive environment that supports the emotional and academic needs of all students.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the pastoral and academic provision across the school.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in Science teaching at Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage a year group effectively.
- Commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and high expectations for student achievement.
- Proven ability to deliver engaging and effective lessons that promote student interest and enthusiasm for Science.
Preferred
- Experience in a Head of Year or pastoral leadership role.
- Specialism in Biology or related scientific disciplines.
- Experience with the use of innovative teaching technologies and methodologies.
- A track record of contributing to the improvement of student outcomes and school culture.
