The Opportunity:

As a Nursery Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the nursery leadership team and contributing to the care and development of young children. This is a key position in creating a safe, stimulating and inclusive learning environment that promotes the educational, social and personal progress of all Early Years pupils.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the nursery leadership team in caring for a small number of key children.
  • Help create a safe, welcoming and inclusive indoor and outdoor environment that encourages learning through play.
  • Understand and apply the stages of young children’s learning and development, particularly the benefits of outdoor learning.
  • Assist in maintaining clean, organised nursery rooms and sleep areas.
  • Support meal times to ensure they are safe and satisfying for all children.
  • Assist in managing children’s individual dietary and medical needs.
  • Contribute to the planning and evaluation of high-quality provision and stimulate activities that meet individual needs.
  • Reflect on practice and routines, tailoring them to meet the developmental stages of each child throughout the day.
  • Complete observations and assessments of children’s learning and development and share them via the online learning journey.
  • Help children develop effective learning characteristics such as confidence, resilience, self-motivation, and curiosity.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with young children in an early years setting.
  • Understanding of child development and learning principles.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and build positive relationships with colleagues, parents, and children.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Basic knowledge of child protection policies and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and safe environment.

Preferred

  • Experience with digital learning tools and online platforms.
  • Experience in planning and delivering stimulating activities for young children.
  • Experience with child nutrition and meal planning.
  • Experience in professional development and reflective practice.
