The Opportunity:

We are seeking a part-time Counsellor to provide professional and confidential support to students within a supportive and dynamic educational environment. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on young people's lives while working as part of a dedicated team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group counselling services to students within the 11–18 age range.
  • Work closely with the Head of Counselling and pastoral staff to ensure a cohesive support system for students.
  • Deliver targeted interventions and support strategies to address emotional, social, and academic challenges.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of all counselling sessions and student progress.
  • Participate in regular supervision and professional development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to support student well-being and academic success.
  • Attend school meetings and contribute to the development of pastoral policies and procedures.
  • Offer support to staff when required, drawing on experience in working with adults.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Minimum of two years post-qualification experience in counselling with young people in an educational setting.
  • A recognised counselling qualification to at least Level 4 Diploma level.
  • Specialised training in working with young people and child development.
  • Ability to work flexibly within a part-time, term-time only schedule.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.

Preferred

  • Experience working with adults in a counselling or support role.
  • Experience in providing clinical supervision or receiving supervision.
  • Familiarity with school systems and pastoral care frameworks.
  • Experience in a similar independent or selective school setting.
