The Opportunity:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Part-Time School Librarian to join our Senior team. This role offers the opportunity to promote the joy of reading and scholarship, while ensuring the library becomes a central hub of academic engagement and resource for both students and teachers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and develop the Senior School Library to ensure it is an effective learning resource and information service.
- Promote a culture of reading for pleasure and academic scholarship among students.
- Collaborate with academic departments to support curriculum delivery and student learning.
- Create engaging opportunities for students to participate in research and academic projects.
- Encourage students of all abilities to engage in learning and personal development.
- Maintain an inclusive and welcoming environment for all learners.
- Support the school’s ethos of respect, curiosity, and kindness through library programs and activities.
- Ensure the library is used effectively by both students and teachers as a hub of academic and scholarly activity.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience in library management and academic support.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Commitment to working collaboratively with colleagues and students.
- Ability to inspire students to adopt a scholarly approach to their studies.
- Experience of engaging a wide range of learners in a constructive way.
- Passion for promoting reading and academic excellence.
Preferred
- Experience of working with children to develop their interest in academic scholarship.
- Experience of supporting students in research projects, such as the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).
- Familiarity with co-educational environments and pastoral care.
