The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Part-Time School Librarian to join our Senior team. This role offers the opportunity to promote the joy of reading and scholarship, while ensuring the library becomes a central hub of academic engagement and resource for both students and teachers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop the Senior School Library to ensure it is an effective learning resource and information service.
  • Promote a culture of reading for pleasure and academic scholarship among students.
  • Collaborate with academic departments to support curriculum delivery and student learning.
  • Create engaging opportunities for students to participate in research and academic projects.
  • Encourage students of all abilities to engage in learning and personal development.
  • Maintain an inclusive and welcoming environment for all learners.
  • Support the school’s ethos of respect, curiosity, and kindness through library programs and activities.
  • Ensure the library is used effectively by both students and teachers as a hub of academic and scholarly activity.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in library management and academic support.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to working collaboratively with colleagues and students.
  • Ability to inspire students to adopt a scholarly approach to their studies.
  • Experience of engaging a wide range of learners in a constructive way.
  • Passion for promoting reading and academic excellence.

Preferred

  • Experience of working with children to develop their interest in academic scholarship.
  • Experience of supporting students in research projects, such as the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).
  • Familiarity with co-educational environments and pastoral care.
