The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Groundsperson to support the maintenance of sports facilities and grounds across two school sites. This is a part-time role offering flexibility and the opportunity to contribute to a welcoming and dynamic school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and upkeep sports facilities and school grounds across two sites.
- Work collaboratively with the gardening team to ensure the grounds are safe, well-maintained, and presentable.
- Assist with general caretaking duties as required.
- Ensure the safe and effective use of fertilisers, herbicides, and insecticides where applicable.
- Adhere to health and safety standards specific to school grounds and sports maintenance.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and contractors.
- Be self-motivated and able to work independently, particularly outside of regular working hours.
- Maintain a level of fitness appropriate for the physical demands of the role.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience in providing grounds maintenance services.
- Good communication skills and the ability to interact with students, staff, and contractors.
- A patient and friendly manner with a flexible approach to work.
- Willingness to work as part of a team and take initiative when needed.
- Ability to meet the demands of a busy school environment.
Preferred
- Level 2 Certificate in Sports and Amenity Turf Maintenance or similar horticultural training.
- Experience working in a school setting.
- Knowledge of organic gardening methods and propagation techniques.
- Experience with the safe use of fertilisers, herbicides, and insecticides.
- Full, clean driving licence.
- Understanding of health and safety issues related to school grounds and sports maintenance.

- 26 days holiday plus Bank Holidays (pro-rated for part-time staff).
