Summary:

Groundsperson required for part-time role at a progressive independent school in North London.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Groundsperson to support the maintenance of sports facilities and grounds across two school sites. This is a part-time role offering flexibility and the opportunity to contribute to a welcoming and dynamic school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and upkeep sports facilities and school grounds across two sites.
  • Work collaboratively with the gardening team to ensure the grounds are safe, well-maintained, and presentable.
  • Assist with general caretaking duties as required.
  • Ensure the safe and effective use of fertilisers, herbicides, and insecticides where applicable.
  • Adhere to health and safety standards specific to school grounds and sports maintenance.
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and contractors.
  • Be self-motivated and able to work independently, particularly outside of regular working hours.
  • Maintain a level of fitness appropriate for the physical demands of the role.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in providing grounds maintenance services.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to interact with students, staff, and contractors.
  • A patient and friendly manner with a flexible approach to work.
  • Willingness to work as part of a team and take initiative when needed.
  • Ability to meet the demands of a busy school environment.

Preferred

  • Level 2 Certificate in Sports and Amenity Turf Maintenance or similar horticultural training.
  • Experience working in a school setting.
  • Knowledge of organic gardening methods and propagation techniques.
  • Experience with the safe use of fertilisers, herbicides, and insecticides.
  • Full, clean driving licence.
  • Understanding of health and safety issues related to school grounds and sports maintenance.
