The Opportunity:

A school is seeking a passionate and experienced Pastoral Support Practitioner (HLTA - ELSA Focused) to play a vital role in supporting student wellbeing and emotional development. This position offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on students’ lives while working within a supportive and forward-thinking team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver targeted ELSA interventions in 1:1 and small group settings
  • Support pupils with SEMH, emotional regulation, and behaviour needs
  • Develop and strengthen the school's nurture provision
  • Provide short-term and planned HLTA classroom cover
  • Adapt learning to meet the needs of pupils with SEND and SEMH
  • Promote positive behaviour strategies aligned with school policy
  • Monitor, record, and evaluate the impact of interventions
  • Support pupils during key transition points in school

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Educated to GCSE Level C or above in English and Maths
  • Excellent communication and written English skills
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills
  • Demonstrated experience in pastoral and behaviour support
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing

Preferred

  • Experience in delivering ELSA or similar interventions
  • Experience working with pupils with SEMH or SEND needs
  • Knowledge of restorative approaches and emotional literacy
  • Experience in classroom support or teaching assistant roles
  • Commitment to continuing professional development
