The Opportunity:

A Personalised Learning Assistant - Maths and Science is needed to support high-ability secondary students with additional needs. This role involves delivering targeted tutoring, developing study skills, and promoting independent learning in a student-centred environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with additional needs in Maths and Science through targeted tutoring and study skills development.
  • Assist in building independent learning and executive functioning skills, including organisation, planning, and self-regulation.
  • Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to the SENCO and curriculum staff.
  • Work collaboratively with the Head of Personalised Learning and wider department to ensure high standards of inclusion and safeguarding.
  • Deliver lessons that align with the school’s academic and personal development goals.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the development of teaching strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and interventions.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching and support practices.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant qualifications in Mathematics or Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working with students with additional needs, including ADHD, Autism, dyslexia, and dyscalculia.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and inclusion.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Familiarity with personalised learning strategies.
  • Experience with study skills development and executive functioning support.
  • Knowledge of assistive technologies or learning support tools.
