The Opportunity:

As a Pastoral Support Worker, you will play a key role in supporting students and their families, promoting high attendance and a positive school culture. This role offers the chance to make a real difference in the lives of students through meaningful relationships and proactive support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop strong, positive relationships with students and their families to enhance student engagement and attendance.
  • Provide support and guidance to students during times of personal or family difficulty.
  • Work closely with teaching and support staff to ensure a consistent approach to student welfare and attendance.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings, assemblies, and other school events that support student well-being.
  • Monitor and report on student attendance and behavior, identifying patterns and offering targeted support.
  • Promote a culture of belonging and inclusion within the school community.
  • Support the implementation of school policies related to student welfare and pastoral care.
  • Collaborate with external agencies when necessary to provide additional support to students and families.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in a pastoral or support role within an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Understanding of student welfare and attendance issues.
  • Commitment to the values and ethos of a school with a strong Christian foundation.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school environment with a faith-based ethos.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Experience in working with families and supporting students through challenging circumstances.
  • Experience in organizing or participating in school events or assemblies.
