The Opportunity:
As a Pastoral Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting student wellbeing, behaviour, and attendance. You will work closely with the Head of Year to ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Head of Year in the day-to-day pastoral management of the year group
- Build positive relationships with students to support their well-being, engagement and progress
- Monitor attendance, identifying trends and students of concern
- Support safeguarding procedures by logging and reporting concerns in line with school policy
- Act as a key point of contact for parents/carers regarding pastoral, attendance and behaviour matters
- Assist in behaviour monitoring, including pastoral on-call support and follow-up actions
- Support the delivery of pastoral lessons (e.g. PSHE, tutor programme)
- Undertake administrative tasks to support the Head of Year, including maintaining accurate student records
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills
- Ability to manage sensitive situations with professionalism and confidentiality
- Competence in using IT systems for monitoring and recording data
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities
Preferred
- Experience in pastoral support or student welfare
- Experience with behaviour management strategies
- Experience working in a school or educational setting
- Knowledge of PSHE and personal development programmes
