The Opportunity:

As a Pastoral Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting student wellbeing, behaviour, and attendance. You will work closely with the Head of Year to ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of Year in the day-to-day pastoral management of the year group
  • Build positive relationships with students to support their well-being, engagement and progress
  • Monitor attendance, identifying trends and students of concern
  • Support safeguarding procedures by logging and reporting concerns in line with school policy
  • Act as a key point of contact for parents/carers regarding pastoral, attendance and behaviour matters
  • Assist in behaviour monitoring, including pastoral on-call support and follow-up actions
  • Support the delivery of pastoral lessons (e.g. PSHE, tutor programme)
  • Undertake administrative tasks to support the Head of Year, including maintaining accurate student records

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills
  • Ability to manage sensitive situations with professionalism and confidentiality
  • Competence in using IT systems for monitoring and recording data
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities

Preferred

  • Experience in pastoral support or student welfare
  • Experience with behaviour management strategies
  • Experience working in a school or educational setting
  • Knowledge of PSHE and personal development programmes
