The Opportunity:

As a Percussion Teacher, you will play a key role in developing the musical skills of children aged 7-11. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a school that values creativity, engagement, and high-quality teaching. Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach weekly lessons of 30 minutes to students aged 7-11, following a timetable aligned with school guidelines.
  • Deliver engaging and interactive percussion and drum kit lessons tailored to the needs of young learners.
  • Develop and grow ensembles based on the interests and skills of the appointee.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Music and other visiting teachers to support the school’s music program.
  • Maintain a high standard of teaching and ensure a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Keep detailed records of student progress and lesson planning.
  • Participate in school events and performances as required.
  • Ensure all safeguarding and child protection policies are followed at all times.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Excellent teaching skills with a strong background in percussion and drum kit.
  • Experience working with children aged 7-11, ideally with beginners.
  • Strong musical ability and performance experience.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
  • Right to work in the UK.

Preferred

  • Experience in developing and leading ensembles or groups.
  • Familiarity with teaching in a school setting, particularly in a Prep School.
  • Experience with curriculum planning and delivery.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility and the ability to work on a self-employed, term-time only basis.
