Assistant Director of Music role at a prestigious school with a renowned music department.

The Opportunity:

Join a dynamic and high-performing music department as the Assistant Director of Music. This role offers the chance to lead and inspire students, contribute to a thriving extra-curricular programme, and work within one of the most respected school music departments in the country.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach music across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
  • Direct ensembles and choirs, including the School’s Schola Cantorum.
  • Contribute to the extensive extra-curricular music programme.
  • Develop and deliver engaging classroom teaching and repertoire for ensembles.
  • Support the School’s commitment to high academic and musical achievement.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Music and other department staff.
  • Participate in concerts, performances, and music events both within and outside the School.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to students and other music staff.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A good degree in Music.
  • Experience of teaching at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
  • Strong musical skills and experience of directing ensembles and choirs.
  • Good keyboard skills.
  • A passion for music and a commitment to sharing that with students.

Preferred

  • Experience with choral and instrumental music.
  • Experience in a high-achieving school or music department.
  • A track record of successful teaching and student engagement.
  • Experience with music technology and composition software.
