The Opportunity:

As a Personal Development Teacher, you will shape the academic and personal growth of students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will lead the delivery of PSHE and RSE, including a new Personal Growth and Wellbeing BTEC, and ensure students are supported in their transition to adulthood through work experience and enrichment. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a supportive and innovative educational setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality PSHE and RSE lessons tailored to the needs of students with SEMH needs.
  • Introduce and lead the implementation of a new Personal Growth and Wellbeing BTEC.
  • Coordinate and deliver targeted small-group interventions and therapeutic or enrichment activities.
  • Supervise student lunchtimes and manage student behavior in a nurturing environment.
  • Ensure Personal Development is integrated across the ARP curriculum and supports student progression.
  • Work closely with the ARP team to support student engagement and academic progress.
  • Support students integrating from the ARP into main school lessons.
  • Contribute to the wider school community and collaborate with staff across the institution.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in PSHE, RSE, or Personal Development.
  • Experience working with students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and deliver innovative curriculum content.
  • Commitment to inclusion, anti-racism, and student wellbeing.

Preferred

  • Experience in designing and leading enrichment or work experience programs.
  • Familiarity with therapeutic or pastoral support strategies.
  • Experience with curriculum development and cross-curricular integration.
  • Knowledge of alternative qualifications such as BTECs or vocational courses.
