The Opportunity:

A school is seeking a passionate and skilled Piano Teacher to join its team on a part time basis. This role offers the chance to inspire students at all levels, from grade 5 to diploma standard, and to contribute to a dynamic and high-achieving music department. The ideal candidate will be able to prepare students for piano exams and provide occasional accompaniment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach piano lessons to students of varying abilities and levels.
  • Prepare students for live and recorded piano exams.
  • Inspire and develop students’ musical skills and confidence.
  • Collaborate with the music department to support student progress and achievement.
  • Provide occasional accompaniment for performances and ensembles.
  • Maintain high standards of teaching and assessment.
  • Stay up to date with current teaching methods and musical repertoire.
  • Contribute to the school’s music culture and events.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A strong background in piano performance and teaching.
  • Experience teaching students at a range of levels, including A level Music.
  • Ability to prepare students for piano exams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Preferred

  • Experience with teaching young people or in a school setting.
  • Familiarity with Steinway pianos and the All-Steinway School ethos.
  • Experience in accompanying students for performances or ensembles.
  • Knowledge of music theory and A level Music specifications.
