The Opportunity:

A school is seeking an experienced and inspiring Primary Assistant Head Teacher specializing in Biology. This role offers the opportunity to lead and support a high-achieving academic team while contributing to a school renowned for its rigorous academic standards and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the delivery of high-quality Biology teaching across the primary curriculum.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Department and other senior staff to drive academic excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Supervise and mentor junior teachers, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
  • Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies aligned with the IB framework and school values.
  • Ensure the effective management of resources, timetables, and student assessments.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and achievement.
  • Participate in school-wide initiatives and contribute to the development of the school’s academic and pastoral programs.
  • Support the school’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Bachelor of Education or equivalent, with a degree in Biology or a related subject.
  • Proven experience in teaching Biology at the primary level.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with experience in a senior teaching role.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality, inquiry-based learning aligned with the IB curriculum.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in an International Baccalaureate (IB) setting.
  • Familiarity with the Career-related Programme (IBCP) or Diploma Programme (IBDP).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and parents.
  • Experience in developing and leading extracurricular activities or student-led projects.
  • Fluency in multiple languages is an advantage.
