The Opportunity:

As a Primary Behaviour Mentor, you will play a crucial role in supporting pupils to develop positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and readiness for learning. This role is essential in helping students, especially those with social, emotional, and mental health needs, thrive both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils in developing positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • Work closely with teaching staff, SEND, and pastoral teams to ensure a consistent approach to behaviour management.
  • Deliver targeted interventions to support students with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create a calm, orderly, and purposeful learning environment.
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress in behaviour and emotional well-being.
  • Provide guidance and support to teachers on behaviour strategies and pastoral care.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the school’s character programme.
  • Promote a culture of respect, responsibility, and self-awareness among students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in behaviour support or pastoral care within a school setting.
  • Strong understanding of child development and emotional regulation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and support staff.
  • Commitment to fostering positive behaviour and academic success in students.

Preferred

  • Experience working with students with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and interventions.
  • Experience in a school with a strong character and pastoral programme.
  • Familiarity with the Ark network of schools or similar high-performing institutions.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary within Support Band 4 (Outer London).
  • Term-time only contract with full-time working pattern.
  • Permanent position with a start date of 1st September 2026.
