Summary:

Primary Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead – safeguard children and support the DSL.

The Opportunity:

As the Primary Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, you will play a vital role in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. You will support the DSL and ensure that safeguarding policies and procedures are effectively implemented across the school. This is a key position in maintaining a safe and secure environment for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) in the implementation of safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Act as a point of contact for safeguarding concerns and ensure timely referrals to appropriate agencies.
  • Contribute to the development and review of safeguarding policies and training programs.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safeguarding practices across the school.
  • Provide guidance and support to staff on safeguarding matters.
  • Collaborate with external agencies and professionals to ensure the best outcomes for children.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to safeguarding concerns.
  • Promote a culture of vigilance and child protection throughout the school community.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant experience in a safeguarding or pastoral role within an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of child protection policies and procedures.
  • Experience in working with children and young people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead role.
  • Knowledge of statutory safeguarding frameworks and legislation.
  • Experience in providing training and support to staff on safeguarding matters.
  • Experience in working with children with additional needs.
