The Opportunity:
The Primary Head of Writing will lead and inspire a team of educators to deliver an outstanding writing curriculum across all primary year groups. This role is ideal for an experienced and passionate practitioner who is committed to raising standards and ensuring all students achieve excellence in writing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and motivate colleagues and students to deliver a high-quality writing curriculum.
- Develop and implement a consistent, progressive writing curriculum aligned with the British National Curriculum.
- Model best practice in writing through day-to-day teaching and leadership.
- Support and train teachers in the use of the Talk for Writing (T4W) approach.
- Collaborate with phase leaders, secondary department heads, and senior leadership to ensure cross-phase consistency.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the writing curriculum and make recommendations for improvement.
- Foster a culture of inclusion, high expectations, and continuous professional development.
- Engage with parents and stakeholders to promote the school’s vision and values.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Minimum of 3 years teaching experience in a British Curriculum School.
- Experience in middle leadership or readiness to take on a leadership role.
- Appropriate teaching degree and Qualified Teacher Status.
- Strong knowledge of the progression of writing skills across the primary phase.
- Confidence in using the Talk for Writing approach.
- Commitment to the school’s philosophy that every student can achieve.
Preferred
- Experience in leading curriculum development and teacher training.
- Proven ability to raise standards and support staff development.
- Experience with High-Performance Learning (HPL) framework.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for extracurricular activities and student development.
